The Demagogue is not interested in actually producing results, his goal is to simply convince the people to back him.

He knows that about 38 percent of the voting public will back him no matter what. And he knows that he has a able and willing Press, (ie, main stream media), that will gloss over any flaws.

He also knows that he will suffer no repricusions from the other Branches of Government while he carries out his agenda, because one major arm of the Legislative Branch, the Senate, is made up of polititians who live by the creed, "Party first, Country second".

His whole "I've got a pen and I've got a phone" remark was basically his swan song, er lame duck song, and few in the media picked up on it.
