I’m under no illusion the hospital will be giving free medical care. My sick ass will have to pay, virus or no virus. If I’m sick enough to need ICU care and happen to survive my ass will be in debt for the rest of my life. It isn’t likely the great leader will pardon my debt.

Let’s imagine for a moment that he freaked out on day 1 and wanted to put the full weight of American resources behind the situation while it was still thought to be only a China problem. He’d have requested billions for research, tens of billions for equipment, enacted war powers to commandeer factories to manufacture medical devices, began to shut down geographic locations and restricted travel from nearly everywhere.

Now let’s remember what was going on at that time, it was 24/7 impeachment. Not only would the President’s requests be denied, they wouldn’t have even been considered. Chuck Todd’s and Don Lemon’s heads would have simultaneously exploded on camera, the New York Times proclaims “Trump Attempts to Distract Impeachment Trial” “Fascist Tyrant takes over GM Plant”, while AOC with flailing arms screams “HE’S TURNING OUR HOSPITALS INTO CONCENTRATION CAMPS” and “HE HATES BROWN PEOPLE” in the house chamber.

Fact of the matter is that the President couldn’t have done anything even if he wanted to.
