On top of that, I give him 3 delicious meals a day and at least a 2hr break for lunch, in which he has a small garage apartment with a a bed, shower, cable tv, and air condition to retreat to. I even have a contractor come put out and set up the largest tent you have ever seen, so that he doesn't ever have to work in the sun. It will take him about 1 year to complete the work. I offer that once the job is done, I'll even let his family come play in the pool once a week for the next year. He has arguably the best work conditions he will ever come across in his lifetime. This job will definitely be a pleasure for him, and he will gain an amazing amount of strength, experience, and skill for having done so. At the same time, he has to sign a contract agreeing that he will not work any other job during this time period.
Should I pay him?

In my simple life.... I build shit... I leave the slinging of pussy to the professionals...
As you should with your project.
You would be surprised at how many homeowners try to through shit out there, pretty close to your scenario...
That's why I love Commercial Construction... I can almost pay a hooker these days.

Yes been on many trips with regulars and they are great. I never had to set anything as they did it for me. the ones who are legit will already know that you are not going to go if it does not benefit you too. I got have a great time and take care of my bills all in one. but these days these guys are rare .

Not as rare as you may think. Many just need to know that the offer is on the table.
If you have regulars....they enjoy your company enough to see you often and travel with you.
But you do have to respond to their pms to even find out.
Just sayin.

I probably wouldn't.
I would trsvel alone and sample the local talent.
Costa Rica, Brazill, Dominican Republic, Germany . . .and the far east would be a whole other relm for travel (is it still OK to say "Far East" or is that considered non-PC lnow ike "Orienta"l ?)

Ok, you got a carpenter worked out. How are you going to compensate your electrician, plumber and dirt mover? You better hope they all get along if you choose to stick with plan "A".
