I used to be a recruiter. We did background checks dating back 7 years. Misdemeanors and felonies did pop up, and unfortunately my company wished not to hire and it was our right not to. I do hope for the best for the person you are inquiring for.

agree w/ brooke
I have to agree with Brooke.
while not understanding who you are trying to assist, from what I have seen the prospects are bleak. Add to that lack of education an other things, that triples the hurdles.
I have advised that when presented with the question about previous run in with the law, say no.
the reason, if you answer is yes, maybe it will trigger a deeper study, if you answer no, maybe you will skate by will a shallow check, no feonies on record. Then on to the drug screening.
Leave it to the empoyer to do the deeper check if they want, if they do, it was not the job to get in the first place.

I work in refinerys
The background check goes back 7 years only
Stay away from jobs that handle money, drugs high value items
patient care people care might be a good place to start
Marijuana stays in your system up to and maybe beyond 30 days

You have advised wrong.
Circumstances in the past are in the past and people do modify their behavior. On the other hand the lie is a current event in present time and shows the engrained dishonesty and lack of credibility that was the concern in the first place about the conviction ... so the applicant has not ... "modified" her behavior ... she is still trying to live a deceptive and illegal life.
Then when she is fired for lying on the application and/or during the job interview, which is a justifiable reason to fire her, she will have on her "resume" she was fired for lying on her last job application and/or job interview. Now she is not only a "hooker," but a "lying hooker." TODAY!
One doesn't have to be a "woman" to comprehend how unwise the advice is.

You can find a job that does not care about your charge. Most jobs don't care about that anyway they are looking for theft assalt robbery charges that will make them turn you down. But if you keep getting turned down I would suggest home health care agencys,or warehouses, assembly line orderselecter warehouse positions. They are looking for hard workers that is all. And like Brook said find a small company that does not care.......GOOD LUCK

Can I rephrase that for her?
"She can find an employer who does not care about your charge."
Currently it is a good time to learn skills through one's local community college, and get prepared for the opportunities existing out there in the future, and not settle for a low wage position based on her erroneously reinforced perception that she is less of person based on her past gainful endeavors.
One of my professors used the saying: "If you have a lemon, make lemonade."

Keep on stiving to do what it is that you got to do and be where you gotta be. And don't let a person bring you down by what they try to do or rephrase.......

As a small business owner with anywhere from 10-12 employees, I do background checks on every interviewee. I routinely overlook the 'non-violent' convictions other than theft..... especially if done at a young age. There is no way I would hire anyone convicted of theft, or a violent crime. Most of my employees are women, and I would have no problem hiring a former prostitute. My advice is to be honest if you are being interviewed by a man. My advice if you are being interviewed by a woman is to run like hell!

The insurance industry will hire you and you can get a license because it only asks if you have ever been convicted of a felony. You can be truthful and say no..
