SAman so sorry to hear that you had to put your best friend down:-( It is extremely hard to know when their quality of life is gone. I always try to spend one last special day with them, to take them all the places they loved, and feed them whatever they like best, and just give them lots of love. Then I sit and hold them while the life drains out of them.
I have even rescued dogs that owners took to the shelter to be euthanized because they were old or sick. The ones that were just old, found good homes for them to spend the rest of their days. The ones that were sick I tried to show them love until it was their time to go, then took them in and sat with them. Every pet deserves to have someone who loves them with them in the end. I hate it when ppl just drop their dogs off to be euthanized. So sad.
I said I wasn't going to rescue anymore when I came down here, but it is so hard for me not to when I see an animal in need:-( especially of just the basic love and care.
