This scandal started long before it became election year.
It would not even BE an election year scandal if Obie had not invoked Executive Privilege. Obie could have told Holder to hang tough on his own. Instead, Obie stuck HIS neck on the block.
Which makes one wonder: What does Holder have on Obie that makes Obie willing to take Holder's heat? Why does Obie care enough about a rogue BATF screwup that he involves the Office of the President in the stonewalling and cover-up?

I don't get it either. Months ago they should of offered up some ATF agents and Dept heads and walked away. They didn't. Why?

Fast and Furious was part of a broader series of investigations called Project Gunrunner, all of which had the collective long-term goal of halting the flow of weapons to criminals in Mexico.

You are the one that keeps posting lies to cover Odumbo's ass, CBJ7. You're the Kool-aid blinded, partisan puke, and you are blatantly lying when you claim the operations conducted during the Bush administration were the same as the “Fast and Furious” operation. All gun-walking operations during the Bush administration were suspended in 2007.
“Operation Fast and Furious” was a unilateral action undertaken by the Odumbo administration wherein some 2,000 weapons where handed over to drug cartels in Mexico without the knowledge or cooperation of the Mexican government.
Under Bush, “Project Wide Receiver”, 2006 to 2007, was a multinational effort which enjoyed the knowledge and cooperation of the Mexican government and its agencies. The same is true of a similar 2007 operation. Both of these operations were suspended because weapons were lost and unaccounted for. Despite that knowledge, Odumbo’s administration CHOSE to launch a “similar” operation with even less means for accountability and NO coordination with Mexican officials: “the Mexican authorities were intentionally left in the dark.”

Tell that to Brian Terry's family, Timmy.
And if the documents show criminal activity on the part of the Bush Administration, prosecute and send them to jail, too.
Anyone who had a hand in the decision making on this one ought to be held accountable.

Seriously? The thugs that killed Terry wouldn't have had access to other firearms to use that day but for the ATF operation? They would have just stayed home because they didn't have any other AK-47's? BTW, since you want to parse this down and blame the actual guns that were purchased in the US, do you know was it one of those that killed Terry? Are there ballistics on that? Or was it a gun that came from someplace else?

You are equivocating, Little Timmy. Holder, et al, armed the thugs that killed agent Terry: Holder, et al, -- not Russia, Iran, Cuba, etc., -- Holder.
