I went & saw Ted Nugent, Styx & REO Speedwagon this evening at Concrete Street. They are on the Geritol Geriatric World Tour, Geritol is their Corporate Sponsor. Is anyone besides myself old enough to remember Geritol? If you are, then you will get my joke-Geritol used to be marketed to old people with tired blood many many years ago in the 1960's & 70's with commercials on TV shows ie Lawrence Welk & Hee Haw.
I'm 53 & grew up going to see Ted Nugent, Styx & REO Speedwagon Concerts at the Memorial Coliseum. Don't know how old Uncle Ted is or Tommy Shaw of Styx or Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, I'm guessing late 50's, possibly early 60's.
Enjoyed the concert. Ted Nugent was the opening band at 7:00 PM. He had 13 Gibson guitars hanging from the speakers lining the stage. I was disappointed that Uncle Ted didn't play longer. He played around 50 minutes & did not come back to play an encore after he quit playing. Styx was the second band to play. And REO Speedwagon was the headliner. Both Styx & REO Speedwagon played encores.
I had an old Vintage pair of Nikon binoculars that I was using. They came in very handy seeing Uncle Ted's facial expressions when he was playing his various Gibson guitars. And seeing Uncle Ted's magic fingers playing his various Gibson guitars. Uncle Ted Frickin' Rocks!!!
I was standing in the Genral Admision Area. An old buddy of mine walked up & said hello in between Styx & REO playing. He & another friend were sitting at the grassy hill area on the far back left side of Concrete Street. I went & joined them. This area was a farther distance from the stage than where I was standing. So the Nikon binoculars again were very handy.
