Last time I went was on the 14th and it gave me the Certificate expired warning and an option to skip it and go to the site. I didn't go.


Now it's giving me a database error.

No, that's not what that means. Security-wise, it's not really an issue. The certificate is just proof that the site you're on is the legitimate ourhome2.net. For example, if someone hijacked the DNS name "ourhome2.net" and pointed it to their own web server, you would get an SSL warning, since it doesn't have a valid certificate from a known, trusted certification authority.

SSL certificate expiration does not mean that information hidden behind a login is now exposed.

And as long as you're using HTTPS and not HTTP, any website data sent or received is still encrypted in transit.

It's not much different from your car registration expiring. Your car still functions exactly the same; you're just making sure the government has up-to-date information.
