30 dead in one strike; and the 30 being the special ops guys has touched most Americans. And yes, it is special because there is the factor of 30 grieving extended families on that day.
Obama's very presence (and the First Lady's absence) speaks to how very different this horrible event is.
But you fat TexasTurdBall; are obvioulsly so above it all that you just see these fallen as nothing special !
But I am certain that Michelle Obama agrees with you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why she was a no=show at Dover yesterday; preferring to be in Oregon hanging with family and friends.
TEXASTURDBALL says: "War dead come back every day. Are these dead any different from other dead? The kids who come back dead next week are just as dead. Their parents grieve just as deeply. They died in vain and for nothing just like these did. One symbolic gesture is just are good (or meaningless) as any other. It's the war that is the real crime."

They died for nothing. Just like the dozen or so last week and the dozen or so next week. It's just a blip in the numbers. Ending the two failed wars of choice should be Obama's priority, not showy PR appearances.

posted WTF
Why is a military life more important than any other taxpayers life?
Because they volunteered to serve their country, because they put their life on the line and their health, limbs and so forth to give you the freedom to rant about stupid shit.
Why doesn't the First lady got to every workers funeral and show how much she appreciates their service to this country?
not a valid point.
Why the fuc does one party think that Rich people and military people are owed tax breaks and head of state funerals?
Many people from all walks of life, from both politcal parties have great respect for the job and sacrifices made by military personel.
Why are they so much more special than say the guy who picks up your trash or the teacher that teach's your child......
They are not being killed, dismembered, seperated from their families for months or years at time.
Isn't there honor in ever job, every human life?
All humans deserve respect if they earn it, but not all earn it.
Am I missing something?
Yes, you don't understand the military, and what they go through. You don't understand what it takes to be a businessman.
I really doubt that is why someone in the military signed up for their job. I doubt they think they are special. I would assume they would understand they are another piece to this thing called life. The body needs the asshole to do its job well just as much as it does the heart. I wish we would quit trying to elevate one persons job over another....in the end we all need each other to make this country work. Yes that means rich people need poor people as bad a poor people need the rich.
People in the military are proud of their work. They are doing something for their country. They are making a difference and they do know they are special and not just ordinary like many people. While we all need each other in one form or another, some jobs are more important than others. We may have all been created equal but then life happens and some excel and some flail.

Hey whirlway- have you served in the forces??? Don't try to come on here preaching this patriotic shit because I heard it before. Evey cop in American puts his life on the line- the airplane pilot, bus driver, firefighter all go to work every day with someones lives in their hand- for God's sake- I am a Pharmacist by profession and I have the lives of many people in my hands as well.
You get feed this bullshit that an American life is so much more than any other human's life. 9-11 is over OBL is dead and you may not like what I am about to say but the Taliban has more right to be in Afghanistan than we do? Are not the Taliban the sons of Afghanistan? You do know the taliban and the militants we kill have families too- in the Taliban eyes we have invaded their country- we are in their land.
Funny how this same group of people who we called the Taliban- were the Muhajadheen whom we were arming during the soviet invasion and we labeled that "taliban" during that time as the "good" guys. And they were fighting the soviet backed militia who were you guessed it the "northern alliance"- now the tables turn and we are now helping the former people we were once killing.
In the 80's oh we had no trouble arming Saddam to fight against the Ayatollah - Saddam I guess was the good guy back then even though he gassed his own people when he was our "ally"- you didn't hear Reagan or George Bush the elder complaining did you?

If you do not believe it, ask any "average American" how many sacrifices he, or she, has had to make since we have been involved in three wars for the past 10 years. Then, ask a citizen, circa WW-2, (not many left), what they had to do.
And before any of you say 'how dare you say that', I am a Vietnam Veteran who had no choice but to go, and I have the scars as a result.
During the War Between The States, President Lincoln instituted a draft, because there were not enough volunteers to fight for the Union. There was a caveat, you could pay to have someone go and fight for you. This became very popular among the well to do who had no interest in "Lincolns War".
We have that problem solved now, we promise young men and women all sorts of enticing benefits to go off and die for the rest of us. Call it what you will, we have a Mercenary Army, whether you like the fact or not.

“Fishers and related fishing workers” died from workplace injuries at the rate of 200 per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers in 2009, according to the B.L.S., 60 times greater than the rate of 3.3 per 100,000 for the overall American work force. For loggers, the fatality rate was 61.8 per 100,000 and for aircraft pilots and flight engineers, 57.1 per 100,000.

Keep her away. I still remember the party outfit she wore to a Medal of Honor ceremony attended by the fallen soldier's family. Not just inappropriate but disgraceful.
It is evident that Michelle Obama likes the perks but not the responsibilities of being FLOTUS.

Again , who is this judge that determines if you deserve respect or not? You?

I freely admit I have not been brainwashed in the military. I do know wtf it takes to run a business.

Many folks are proud of their work....and you are saying that all military folks think they are special? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Special as in how? Are they better than everyone else? I'm not sure I agree with ya on this one.
We live in a so called free market society. How come we do not pay these special folks more than say a baseball player.
How come the business community does not want to pay higher taxes to pay for these wars?
I have all kinda questions for special people like you....

Texan at Play, you are correct. The First Lady is no different from The President. She is a product of Her enviroment, she doesn't understand what she has no knowledge of.

Instead of letting your infantile mouth overload your ample ass, why don't you just enumerate the amount of funding the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan cost under Bush.
Then, since he LOWERED taxes on the wealthy and made no revenue provisions to counteract those war expenditures, tell us what part of the problem belongs to Obama and what part belongs to Obama who, btw, inherited the wars.
Then explain to me why you financial wizards protested when a revenue stream that would have helped pay for those conflicts was going to be allowed to expire as is was supposed to in the bill?
I'll await your answer but if past performance is any indication, your answer will be straight out of LaLa Land and have nothing to do with giving Bush credit for what Bush did to the economy.

So when she has free time....she goes to Oregon, or shopping. As much as much as I respect the memories of Betty Ford and Pat Nixon, are you making the point that they should be forgiven when they disappeared into a hazy alcoholic stupor and condemning a non-substance-affected Michelle Obama who doesn't work 24/7? You're a fucking idiot!
Even the great SOCIALIST Eleanor Roosevelt, had genuine caring for families of military members...as did Laura Bush, who routinely hosted events, and went out of here way to attend and put her name behind charitable events for those people. Like Eleanor had the 24/7 media that surround MO - more stupid rhetoric without ANY basis in reality!
Any first lady who truly cared would have not been in Oregon but would have been there to meet the grieving families, because it's a genuine gesture.
Do I blame her? No, she can't exhibit what she doesn't have. And I don't expect her to, so I'd rather she just drop the pretenses and do her Oregon thing, then her vacation later at Martha's Vineyard (or Long Island, or wherever they are going this summer). You don't even play a good mind-reader!
Stop using Military members and their families as photo ops -- that's my hope for them. Be who you really are.
|
It's already been said but since you're going all the way back to Eleanor Roosevelt why not also remember the Staff edit, forbidden subject, CC who did the Mission Accomplished PHOTO-OP!

Who are you to critique her attire? I'm sure there were advisors with far more fashion sense than you and your frumpy avatar advising the first lady. What a STUPID comment!

Jeesh!
You don't like the President, and you desperately want him voted out...we get it! But it seems lame to pick on his wife because you don't agree with his policies or his very legitimacy.
Seems you guys would be better served by concertrating efforts towards defeating him fair and square, instead of creating non-issues, no?
And for those who try to attack Mrs. Obama's fashion choices, you're obviously unaware the she's highly regarded by industry insiders(the experts), for having impeccable style and savvy. Besides, what the heck do you guys really know about 'fashion', ha!
