I am going to disagree. Jerry spends enough money on quality football players to consistenly have 9+ win seasons. it is one thing to have good football players but it is another to have them playing together as a team.

Bottom line: JJ is NOT a General Manager but he is convinced that he is!

Has anyone other than me noticed that my old buddy Tex Rich (aka JJ's biggest cheerleader) has been very quiet on this subject?

Everyone though Bob Irsay was just an asshole that moved him team in the middle of the night for a better deal in Indy. Here's the interesting and mostly unknown side-story about the Baltimore/Indianapolis move:

In January 1984, a drunk Irsay appeared before the Baltimore media and exclaimed, "This is my goddamn team!" He reiterated that, despite problems, the rumors that he was moving the team were untrue. With negotiations over improvements to Memorial Stadium at an impasse, one of the chambers of the Maryland state legislature passed a law on March 27, 1984 allowing the city of Baltimore to seize the Baltimore Colts under eminent domain, which city and county officials had threatened to do. Irsay later claimed the city promised him a new football stadium, something they later denied, citing the team's poor attendance.

The next day, Irsay, fearing a dawn raid on the team's Owings Mills headquarters, accepted a deal offered by the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. Indianapolis Mayor William Hudnut contacted his friend John B. Smith, at that time the CEO of the Mayflower Transit Company, who arranged for fifteen trucks to hurriedly pack the team's property and transport it to Indianapolis in the early hours of the morning of March 29.

"The state legislature and the city of Baltimore] not only threw down the gauntlet, but they put a gun to his head and cocked it and asked, 'want to see if it's loaded? They forced him to make a decision that day."

An ecstatic crowd in Indianapolis greeted the arrival of their new NFL team, and the team received 143,000 season ticket requests in just two weeks.
Baltimore was without a National Football League team until 1996, when Art Modell moved the Cleveland Browns there, where they were renamed the Ravens.

IMO - The special teams are bad not because of the special teams coach, the problem is the talent. The current special teams are mostly made up Jerry's picks (rookies - 3rd and 4th yr players), whereas most of our current starters are linked to the Big Tuna, and are largely considered some of the most talented at their respective positions. It's also the reason we have ZERO depth.

Thanks to Jerry the GM and the current head coach, the bottom of our roster is arguably the worst in the league, and it's obvious Wade cannot get the max out of the top of our roster.

We have a small window left with the current core, so hopefully JJ will get a leader in here to salvage what Parcells built. After this core is gone and if JJ is still in charge of the draft, we'll see a return to the dark ages, AKA the Chan Gailey/Quincy Carter era.

They were NEVER renamed the Ravens. They were an expansion franchise (that the NFL denied them when the NFL awarded the Jaguars and the Panther franchises because balti-whore was too close to the other NFL teams and didn't have the population

F-art Modell (may he burn in hell) didn't move the Cleveland Browns, the Cleveland franchise never left the shores of Lake Erie and in fact, Cleveland is the ONLY NFL city to BEAT the NFL with regard to a team owner engaging in franchise free-agency.

stayed with the city.

Please notice that the Browns also have 5 NFL championships but way too many people count Super Bowls only when they count NFL championships.

When f-art took over, the last time the Browns won an NFL Championship was in 1964 with the talent Paul Brown had accumulated. Anyone who thinks Jerry Jones is a bad owner needs to take a serious look at f-art modell.

ALL those Championships remained with Cleveland.
