Huge cost at the end of one's life. They were addressing the ugly question of making tough choives as a nation. With limited resources, Do we as a nation want to spend millions of dollars on the very end of ones life. The Tea Party folks said Hell Yea! Do NOT cut spending there. Ok but then do not bitch when others tell the Tea Party folks to shove it when they come asking others to cut from their pet peeves.

I can not help you understand basic math. If you do not understand the concept of limited resources and tough choices.....then you probaly will get elected to the very top of the Tea Party looney bin. Nobody in that movement can seem to grasp that very basic concept either.
I'm talking about the Tea-Baggers here, but it could be any party. They have to bastardize their ideology to the level necessary attract enough support to be relevant. I just wish they'd have the balls to admit it instead of trying to taking some kind of moral high ground.

(Do not take this literally, what follows is a dramatization)

The Tea-baggers are having a rally. They are all fired up. Filled the gym at the local high school. Then the topic of so-called death panels comes up. The guy (call him Bob) that has been yelling the loudest, a devout Catholic, stands up and addresses the podium, "Death panels amount to euthanasia which is a serious sin in my Church so we have to preserve the natural life of all of our loved ones."

The local leader of the TeaBags sits there for a minute, does a quick head count & realizes about half of the crowd goes to Bob's Church. He then exclaims, "Of course we'd never support anything that would prematurely end the life of any of our loved ones."

The crowd goes nuts and the "limited government" Tea Bags are stronger than ever....

We understand the basic math. We also understand we don't want the govt telling us when we should die, what treatment we should be allowed based on our age or having the govt involved in our health care in any capacity.
That should be easy for you to understand, Sir WTF.

Reform Medicare, Medicaid and SS. Give a time, based on entry age into the system, and eliminate Medicare and Medicaid to all but the indigent and truly needy. At the same time, allow SS to become a personal choice but no more automatic raises or attempts to make it the sole retirement plan for all. Restrict it to the indigent and needy also, if possible.

Does this give you a better understanding of our thoughts, WTF.

And yes, CT. I understand this doesn't meet with your approval.

Then opt out! That is a really easy solution.

Self insure.

Good luck in finding an insurance company willing to insure a bunch of old people on a fixed income with huge health care cost coming down the pipe. What kind of shady math is going to solve that lopsided problem. What you are showing is that you know slogans. Do you really think that anyone will insure older folks that have no money?

To say you do not want the govt involved is pretty radical but hey if that floats your boat, fine by me. Every Snake Oil salesman in the country will crawl out of the wood work. I hope you don't want the government intervening when some quack doctor or some insurance plan goes belly up that you then cry for govt help.

Quit giving tax breaks to large corps on their health care plans!

You wanna go on your own then really go on your own.

''if possible''

Could you be any less vague?

I understand now, ya'll believe in the tooth fairy.

If you think people are going to go calmly by while you cut their benifits, think again.

No kidding.

And just take a look at all the idiocy spewed by people who actually are PhDs! Examine the loony views advanced by Paul Krugman, for example. See what I mean?

Just a couple of weeks ago, Kartik Athreya, an economist with the Richmond Fed, lambasted non-PhDs who opine about economic issues. Among other things, he said that no one who hadn't at least completed the coursework leading to candidacy for the doctor's degree has any business rendering opinions on macro policy of any kind. (By the way, you may have noticed that these geniuses at the Fed don't exactly have a sterling track record of getting things right.)

By Athreya's standard, no one should ever pay any attention to the musings of Adam Smith, David Hume, or Frederic Bastiat. They didn't do the coursework for PhDs in economics.

And it's amusing to note that John Maynard Keynes, at the altar of which many of these guys worship, didn't complete graduate-level coursework in economics! He studied mathematics, philosophy, and the classics.
