Default Some Truths About Government Spending

Republicans would like you to think that assistance is always to Blacks. Recently Rick Santorum singled out African-Americans when deriding welfare Sunday.
The former Pennsylvania senator was quoted as saying, ”I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money and provide for themselves and their families.” But the truth is assistance is increasing going to the white middle class.

In this story in the New York Times it discusses how people who are critics of government spending are often the ones using it the most.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/12/us...mc=rss&src=igw

One example:

Ki Gulbranson owns a logo apparel shop, deals in jewelry on the side and referees youth soccer games. He makes about $39,000 a year and wants you to know that he does not need any help from the federal government.

He says that too many Americans lean on taxpayers rather than living within their means. He supports politicians who promise to cut government spending. In 2010, he printed T-shirts for the Tea Party campaign of a neighbor, Chip Cravaack, who ousted this region’s long-serving Democratic congressman.

Yet this year, as in each of the past three years, Mr. Gulbranson, 57, is counting on a payment of several thousand dollars from the federal government, a subsidy for working families called the earned-income tax credit. He has signed up his three school-age children to eat free breakfast and lunch at federal expense. And Medicare paid for his mother, 88, to have hip surgery twice.

The government safety net was created to keep Americans from abject poverty, but the poorest households no longer receive a majority of government benefits. A secondary mission has gradually become primary: maintaining the middle class from childhood through retirement. The share of benefits flowing to the least affluent households, the bottom fifth, has declined from 54 percent in 1979 to 36 percent in 2007, according to a Congressional Budget Office analysis published last year.

And as more middle-class families like the Gulbransons land in the safety net in Chisago and similar communities, anger at the government has increased alongside. Many people say they are angry because the government is wasting money and giving money to people who do not deserve it. But more than that, they say they want to reduce the role of government in their own lives. They are frustrated that they need help, feel guilty for taking it and resent the government for providing it.

Let me help you out on this one. And understand I am only speaking for myself here. So basically I want all handouts, stimulus and government meddling in anything stopped! No ambiguity as to race, religion or creed. Stopped!

Let people be responsible for their own decisions and the consequences that result. I'm tired of hand holding people who consistently fail without learning the lessons needed to succeed later. I'm tired of the whining about how everyone is owed something and someone else is always preventing or taking away their opportunities. Screw that! There is plenty of opportunity here in this country for the taking. Identify your niche and damn the torpedoes full steam ahead. Use the sweat of your brow to work hard and make something of yourself.

Oh and just so you know I am white and second generation from Russia. All but two members of my family were murdered by Stalin and his fucking communist minions! My family who survived came here and worked their asses off without any government assistance and made something of themselves after loosing everything they had to a murderous sociopathic monster! But they never sat around feeling sorry for themselves and asking for handouts!

So back to my rant. I am sick of the liberal agenda and use of taxpayer money to buy votes with the promises of handouts, bailouts, incentives and anything similar. If republicans do the same then I am done with them as well! Make no mistake anybody in any party who takes part in these tactics is crossed off my list. Doesn't anybody study the history of such acts and their consequences?

"The problem with socialism is you eventually run out of other peoples money". Margaret Thatcher

Truth be told if you took all the wealth in the world, divided it equally amongst the masses, just how long do you think before the people who had it before had it again and those that didn't pissed it away! People who are successful are successful for a reason. They Work Hard At It!

So to sum it all up I'm tired of the stupid gamesmanship being played to divide the fine people of this country. African American, Mexican American or whatever you decide to call people. I call bullshit! There is no such thing. You might have people who have cultural ties to those things but if they live, work and make their livings here and contribute to this fine country they are AMERICANS and my BROTHERS!

Quite labeling ethnic groups in an attempt to divide and conquer. We all see it for what it is: a blatant attempt by liberal neo bolshevik's to wrest control of this country from the people who have worked hard to build it no matter their ethnicity or religion!

I for one have had enough of it!

If you read the story and what I posted you will notice that this has nothing to do with a liberal agenda or the republicans. Money is going to people just like you and me in little ways we take for granted. The normal middle class is beginning to receive the majority of these benefits and it is BOTH parties that support the programs.

You really need to read the entire article.

You should read "The Appeal" by John Grisham.
He'll show you how wrong you are.
