Default faithless electors: electoral college vs npv

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/ar...on_143687.html

now according to the scotus ruling, electors must vote the way their state population voted according to state law.

this has implications here regarding the npv.

some states have it set in their constitution, others by legislation. it would require changes on their part.

the thinking is those who have signed the npv, they can require the electors to award the votes to the winner of the national popular vote.

one wonders, is the NPV needed at all?, considering that the states can by legislation or by amendment require electors to vote for the winner of the national popular vote.

NPV is likely unconstitutional, due to it being a compact that the U.S. congress didn't consent to.

Because that is what the Constitution says. Now if they want to change the Constitution, there are provisions in the Constitution that tells how to do that. Look it up, you might learn something you obviously didn't know.

Established in Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution, the Electoral College is the formal body which elects the President and Vice President of the United States.

HF - the reponse is typical of the DPST's - and their aversion to Constitutional rule of law - and the Teacher's Union educations which cripples the ability for independent thought.

The Dipshits will be just fine with the Electoral College if Biden loses the popular vote, but he manages to gain enough electoral votes to win, just as Trump did in 2016 ..... but if Trump wins, that nasty, pesky Electoral College must be dissolved immediately! .....

The Supreme Court ruled that the Electors have to vote in accordance with state laws -- that means, at present, states that have signed onto the NPV movement via state legislation have to vote for the winner with the most votes nationally. Somebody in one of those states that feels abused by this NPV movement would have to bring a case before the Supreme Court to have it ruled unconstitutional.

None of the states that have presently signed onto the NPV movement went for Trump in 2016. Ergo, should Trump win the NPV this year he will get the Electoral votes from states he would not have otherwise won -- and secure a second term because of this movement. Should that happen, the NPV movement will be dead within days after the election. If Kanye West is sincere, he could give Trump the NPV by denying Biden votes he might otherwise have received.

Never mind. Kanye is reportedly out. He's too late to get on the ballot.
