Au contraire my dear Gnadfly, you sadly underestimate the subterfuge and the one mindedness of the hard core socialist. Do you think Lenin, Mao or Ho Chi Minh would have given a flying fuck about global warming? Of course not.
Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (AOC) prays every night for global warming. She believes it will cause her constituents to stop leaving New York for Florida. You and I know the real reason they leave is because of high taxes and not enough good jobs with good employers like Amazon. But those facts are contrary to her core anti-capitalist beliefs.
There are two parts to the equation you have missed.
1. AOC's primary focus is ending capitalism as we know it, and fucking over anyone who's worked hard and been successful. Her crusade against companies who extract and burn oil, gas and coal is just a part of her anti-capitalist agenda. Again, she wants to fuck over all the capitalists, all the businessmen, all the investors, all the wealthy. Companies involved with oil, gas and coal are just a small part of that.
2. An Ocasio Cortez fan who works with me says that Ocasio Cortez's frantic schedule has played havoc with her diet, exercise, relaxation time, and social life. Maybe she read something like this,

The poor woman is frazzled. Taking on one more committee assignment would adversely affect her work-life balance and her ability to be our nation's foremost anti-capitalist crusader.
