Default Bangkok or Pattaya?

So I'm contemplating taking the trip to Thailand and looking around comparing Bangkok v Pattaya, and haven't really found any definitive answer. Maybe there is none and it just comes down to preference. I'm more of "quality" type of dude but since the goal of this trip is to hook up with as many providers as possible I might put on my "quantity" hat or even better wear them both! So my question is this: if you were going to spend 2 weeks where would you go? I suppose I could do a week in both or play it on how I feel after the first couple of days. Generally it seems Bangkok is a bit more pricey, but has a better looking group. Pattaya seems to have a very wide selection but on average not as attractive as Bangkok. Anbody have any insight and/or advice? Thanks!

If your goal is to hook up with as many providers as possible than Pattaya is the better option. Might want to spend a couple of nights in Bangkok and then move down to Pattaya to get a taste of both cities.

I'm headed to Thailand for my first trip in mid-November for 13 nights. My loose plans are to spend the first 3 nights in Bangkok then the remaining in Pattaya, as Pattaya seems to fit my laid back lifestyle better.

I'm not sure Pattaya would be considered "laid back" but I bet it's awesome. Really never been so I don't know, just from what I've looked at. My original plan was to go next month but looks like that won't work so I'm looking at December. Better weather anyways! I've heard you should never book a room for more than a couple days in case you don't like the accommodations so 3 days in Bangkok sounds smart.

I have been all over Thailand many times. I would land in Bangkok and stay the night. Maybe 1 more day, then go to Pattaya. After you have spent time in Pattaya, go back to Bangkok 1 or 2 days before you fly out. Enjoy!

I guess I should have said I like the appearance of a smaller city that Pattaya seems to offer as opposed to Bangkok. Having never been, I only have pics, maps, and videos to go on. Sure the girls are out in force to make your money, but with the action being seemingly spread out (in my mind) and not mostly kept to the 3 main districts like I'm told is how it is in Bangkok, I can feel more comfortable and explore without having to navigate mass transit and taxis all over the place.

I plan to stay fairly central to Beach Road (between BR & 2nd Rd, around Soi 10) so access to the main hotspots should be fairly simple for me.

As for lodging, I'm not one that likes to move around much once I get settled in. And since I'm visiting at the start of high season, I don't want to run the risk of not being able to continue in the same room if I like the place and want to extend. I can be comfortable just about anywhere as long as there is running water, a working toilet, and comfortable bed. Looking closely at Page 10 hotel, which a lot of guys on Pattaya Addicts say is very nice. A little more than I would like to spend with taxes and fees added in, but if it keeps me from potentially having to bounce around every 3-4 days, then I'll give up an extra $10 or so a day.

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

It all depends on how long you are staying. No reason you can't do both. It's only 1.5" hour drive apart. Pattaya does have so much more will take a few days. pattaya is on the beach and all within walking distance daytime downtime is more relaxing plus some afternoon gogo and massage. Talking any where from 1300 to 1600 you will have options. Bangkok during the day is just city life.nothing really going but the bj bars and massage till around 7 I guess except star of light. Plus you will need a taxi every where. Suggest both two days bangers. Then head to patts early evening. He'll I live over here I might be able to shoe you a bit. Just pm if you want.
