Marital infidelity is very slowly becoming accepted and, more often than not, being forgiven by the “affected” spouse and/or SO.The moral standard is changing. In my opinion the moral standard is modernizing.

Back in the 40’s and 50’s and going into the 60’s getting a divorce was almost unheard of. Now it’s commonplace. Being gay was shameful. Now it’s an accepted way of life and the Supreme Court just ruled that same sex marriage is legal. Smoking marijuana got you labeled as a no good trouble making stoner or pothead. Now it’s legal in some states. If you had pre-marital sex you were labeled a tramp. Now living together is “the smart thing to do” to make sure you’re compatible before getting married.
Marital infidelity still carries some shock value to a lot of people. Slowly but surely it’s making headway.
