I remember going there. They used to have cheap concerts from time to time...I am thinking a dollar? I saw Rory Gallagher...didn't know who he was....and totally blew me away.

Summer Jam 1977 at Arrowhead stadium...included Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon, Black Oak Arkansas, Head East, Climax Blues Band and Little River Band

Summer Jam 1978 at Royals Stadium: included Van Halen, Kansas, Steve Miller Band, Eddie Money

Summer Jam 1979 at Arrowhead -w/Ted Nugent/The Cars/Heart/Bob Welch/Missouri/Sammy Hagar

Also an amazing item here I just read...in 1967 THE WHO played at the Shawnee Mission South Gymnasium

Check out this site for list of KC concerts in the 60's and 70's

Although I really was too young for the 60's and early 70's I partied like crazy at alot of these from about 1976 on.....

Ok, I hate to keep poking into this thread, but the first rock concert that I ever saw was at Cowtown Ballroom,,,,1971...Frank Zappa and the Mothers with Flo and Eddie...$5.00. And yes, no chairs. "Please take off your shoes...we just waxed the floor!"
