Default Oh Shit, You Mean Shop Liftings Now A Felony??!!

https://www.foxnews.com/video/6366393208112

I can’t be sure if this was staged by LA Police, but if it’s real, these young punks will get introduced to the errors of their ways.

There’s a new Sheriff in Orange County.

Of course it is. It is pointing out the changes taking hold in California political atmosphere. Changing from stealing under $1,000 dollars is OK or at the worst a misdemeanor to it is now a felony. That is most certainly political.

This isn’t anymore political than an episode of cops.

If you got something political to say then say it. Otherwise this belongs in the comedy forum.

it;s completely political. Kalifornica especially LA and SF decriminalized theft and guess what happened? this. now they are leaning right again politically.

Plus, George Gascón, the Soros backed Attorney General of LA County, finally got VOTED out.

When people vote, whether for a person or a referendum, it’s political.

3 women charged for stealing more than $1,600 worth of items from OC Ulta store, police say

The women were also linked to a theft that occurred earlier at a nearby Kohl's store, according to police.

repeat offenders ... shocking!!!

The law permits felony charges for petty theft with prior convictions and allows aggregating the value of stolen goods from multiple thefts to meet the $950 felony threshold. It also introduces enhancements for theft crimes involving two or more offenders acting in concert.

"Proposition 36 gives law enforcement and prosecutors much-needed resources to address the growing issue of organized retail theft," said Seal Beach Police Chief Michael Henderson. "This legislation sends a clear message that our communities will not tolerate those who prey on businesses and disrupt public safety." The incident remains under investigation.

Ballot measures · California

California Proposition 36. Increases penalties for certain theft and drug crimes.

This ballot measure would increase penalties for repeated theft offenses and certain drug crimes, including some involving fentanyl. It also would create a drug court treatment program for people with multiple drug possession convictions.

California voters get tough on crime, pass Prop. 36

Now this post is political. The OP not so much.

The California political class finally figured out that anyone will abuse the system if they are able to. That’s why way back in August a package of new laws were passed to fill in the gaps that were created by the criminal justice reform put in place years earlier.

California governor signs landmark legislation to crack down on retail theft

The laws establish new penalties for repeat offenders, provide more tools for felony prosecutions and crack down on serial shoplifters among others.

In what way am I arguing for extreme liberalism?

I’m all for using these forums to debate social, political and economic issues as applied in a political context.

What the OP posted was a supposed news clip without any political context whatsoever.

Besides this is an issue that’s old news.
